The Extransit Activator Server manifests the following four – tightly integrated – functionalities; service management, client provisioning, client wakeup and SMS installation.
Service management
Central management of Mobile Express services, keeps track of which services that are available from specific authors, and targeted to specific user groups. Automatic client configuration so that each installation gets a resident “unique” identifier.
Client provisioning
Maintains a mobile download web page and “manufactures” prosonalized JAR and JAD files on demand, embedding any selection of files.
Client wakeup
Remote controlled “wakeup” of remote applications, web pages or video streams. The server maintains track of in which state remote mobile applications are and automatically selects the quickest or most cost-efficient wakeup methid; applications can be switched off and activated via SMS, or reside in a “sleeping mode” and be instantly activated via the network,
SMS based installation
One key to successful mobile services is to make is as easy as possible for the user to download, install and get going with the applicaiton. The SMS based installer lets the user send an SMS to a pre-defined number and get a personalized application in return. The activator server maintains binding to the phne number, so each applicaiton is “known” when started, thus eliminating the tedious work of entering user details on the phone.
